Frequently Asked Questions
The Alpha Digital Campus is a planned power and infrastructure development in Reeves County near Pecos. PowerBridge is developing power generation and supporting campus infrastructure to serve a data center customer. The following answers are intended for residents, community leaders, and local businesses.
Power & the Electric Grid
Will Alpha Digital take electricity from the ERCOT grid?
Alpha Digital is being designed with dedicated on-site generation to meet campus needs and an electrical network that limits grid withdrawals under its proposed WLPUN approach. This does not mean the campus is prohibited from ever drawing power from the grid. The project’s final import limit and operating requirements depend on ERCOT review and applicable approvals.
Will Alpha Digital export electricity to the grid?
The campus is designed to meet its own electricity needs and contribute excess generation to ERCOT. PowerBridge’s long-term objective is to be a net electricity producer. Actual exports will depend on operating conditions and the applicable grid interconnection and export approvals.
Will the project increase electricity rates?
Electricity rates are affected by many factors and are not set by PowerBridge. Our approach is to develop new generation alongside the campus’s new demand and pursue a defined limit on grid withdrawals. We will share additional interconnection information as it becomes available, but we cannot guarantee rate outcomes for other customers.
What is a Withdrawal-Limited Private Use Network?
It is a structure that combines large electricity demand with dedicated on-site generation under a limit on net electricity withdrawals from the grid. PowerBridge has submitted Alpha Digital through ERCOT’s Batch Zero process using this approach. Submission does not mean final approval has been granted.
Water & Environment
Will Alpha Digital use water from the City of Pecos or other community supplies?
PowerBridge has committed to using no municipal or community water for industrial operations at Alpha Digital. Instead, the campus plans to use non-potable industrial water sources for its operations, helping preserve community water supplies.
Water for basic building needs, such as drinking water and restrooms, will be addressed separately as campus facilities are developed, with an emphasis on responsible and efficient use.
Where will the campus’s industrial water come from?
WaterBridge is expected to source, treat and deliver non-potable industrial water using regional infrastructure. The project is being designed with closed-loop cooling. We will provide more detail on the approved water system as engineering and commercial arrangements are finalized.
How will Alpha Digital protect West Texas’s dark skies?
PowerBridge is committed to complying with Reeves County’s outdoor lighting requirements. The campus design will incorporate responsible lighting practices, with shielded fixtures, appropriate light levels and controls to reduce unnecessary illumination. The company is also exploring engagement with organizations focused on night-sky preservation. No certification or membership is being claimed at this time.
Construction & Community
What work is taking place at the site?
Site preparation began in early September 2026. Early work includes clearing and preparation for future infrastructure development. As additional construction milestones are confirmed, PowerBridge will provide updates on its Progress & History page.
How will construction traffic and road safety be managed?
Construction activity may increase the movement of crews, materials and equipment in the area. PowerBridge intends to coordinate with project contractors and appropriate local authorities on site access and traffic-related considerations. Specific traffic plans and road improvements will be shared when confirmed.
Will there be jobs for local residents?
Construction and future operations are expected to create demand for skilled trades, technical positions and support services. Specific job numbers and hiring arrangements are still being developed. PowerBridge is engaging with local education and workforce organizations to identify relevant career pathways.
How can local businesses participate?
PowerBridge intends to engage local contractors and suppliers as opportunities arise. Needs may include construction services, equipment, transportation, maintenance and other support. We will share an appropriate contact or procurement process as it becomes available.
Will Alpha Digital generate local tax revenue?
The development is expected to add taxable investment and economic activity, but estimates will depend on actual construction, ownership, operations and applicable tax arrangements. PowerBridge has retained an economic-impact specialist and intends to share appropriately reviewed results when available.
Project Responsibility & Communication
Will PowerBridge build or operate the data centers?
PowerBridge is developing the powered campus and supporting infrastructure. Future data center buildings and their operations are expected to be undertaken by separate customer or operator entities.
How can I stay informed or contact PowerBridge?
Visit the Progress & History page for construction and milestone updates, subscribe through Stay Informed, or use the contact form to submit a question. PowerBridge intends to provide an accessible, monitored point of contact for the community.
